Jali Box Incense Holders

A Jali box is an alternative to the simple ash catcher. Usually designed to hold either sticks or cones, a jali box does the same job but in a unique way. Once you have placed the lit incense into the hole inside the box simply shut the lid and watch the smoke float through the holes in the top of the box. Jali boxes also have a handy compartment in which to keep your spare incense sticks fresh. All our Jali Boxes are made from wood either carved or with a brass inlaid design.

Jali in Gujarati originally described a perforated, latticed or carved screen.Today, at least in the West, we tend to describe any carved panelwork as jali, hence its use in describing incense smoke boxes with their perforated lids and side panels.
