Also known as Vetivert, or Khus oil
Origin Java
Oil extracted by steam distillation from the roots
Properties:
Viscosity is high
Scent is musty, earthy, like damp woodland
Colour is amber to olive
Uses:
It is calming and soothing, being known as the oil of tranquillity, and can be used to counteract insomnia
Dispels anger, irritability and even hysteria
Can reduce neurotic behaviour, as well as reducing stress and nervous tension
It is revitalising, combatting mental as well as physical exhaustion
Helps relieve arthritic, rheumatic and muscular pain
Other applications:
It is also used in skincare to moisturise and nourish the skin

Considered safe, non-toxic and non-irritant, and non-sensitising
